Service Projects

December 3rd, 2009 by Webmaster

Why service projects? Because Cub Scouts of all ages can work side by side with their parents to help make a difference in the world. They find that helping others makes them feel good. And it’s fun!

Pack 497 picks several service projects throughout the year, and we encourage every family to attend at least 3. Here’s what we have on the schedule for 2009-2010:

November 14: Simpson Homeless Shelter in Minneapolis

As we enter the months where we think about thankfulness, we have an opportunity to share and help others in our community. We’ll be gathering some much-needed supplies for a shelter in Minneapolis and taking a visit there to see how they serve people.

December 19: Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Bell ringing with the Salvation Army. All the Cub Scout Packs in Eden Prairie spend part of their day ringing bells to collect change for those who need help over the holidays. Wear your warm clothes, your holiday gear, and come ring! (Sign-up for a ½ hour slot at the November pack meeting.)

April 17: Park Clean Up

Park Clean up day! Let’s get together to do a good turn by helping to keep our community clean.

April 24: Scouting For Food

A council-wide service project. Scouts all over the Twin Cities will be going door to door, asking for food donations. Each troop and pack collects for their local food shelf.
